Lehera’s July 2011 Tour

Prakash and Karthik from India and Sarah, our new addition on vocals and Keyboard from Switzerland arrived in Toronto the last couple of days in June. We rented a cottage on Lake Erie and rehearsed for a week and… played Canada’s No1 World Music Fest; Sunfest for 2 days then flew to Vancouver Island MusicFest to play the rest of the weekend where we sold out of all the cds we had brought right after our mainstage set. What a cool audience and setup at the VIMF. The Sunday morning collaboration with Ecodek was great fun for us and the audience alike. David Crosby ended the Festival with a great band. We worked our way back to Calgary from there playing some smaller gigs including the small village of Silverton where I used to live and the international members of the band were enchanted by the Kootenay hospitality and wilderness. From Calgary, my homebase at this point, we flew back to play Hamilton and then Blue Skies Festival in Clarendon, Ontario. Lovely Festival, no vendors and a total focus on the music. it is a camping Festival and reminded me of the old festival spirit with late night jams et all. We were well recieved there and our evening mainstage performance prompted a “best show I’ve seen this summer” comment from the delightful Jaron Freeman-Fox. Met up with old friends from Karachi and kicked back at Desert lake at a friend’s cottage, then everyone flew back to India, Switzerland and Calgary. This is a brief account but, man there were some really hilarious episodes along the way. Everywhere we went people were very helpful and some new friends even helped us and instruments get to Duncan from Courtenay (Vancouver Island).
